About our Story
Ideal for individuals and people in small groups, our
story, comprehension and interactive discussion topics
have been designed to entertain and encourage
listening, cognitive and memory skills
and to stimulate discussion -
based on events from the
1940s, 1950s, 1960s and 1970s
The story can be enjoyed individually by people who would like to listen and reminisce.
Discussion topics provided are wide and varied to stimulate memory and interest.
The content is audio based using MP3 - with a bell to advise where to pause.
A printed transcript in Microsoft Word is provided for the organiser to follow or read aloud themselves if desired.
There are questions based on the stories which will motivate people to listen carefully, remember what they hear and take part in. Enjoyable question and answer sessions after listening to excerpts of the story being read.
To keep the interest of the listener - a little story, then questions, then discussion - then back to the story etc.
Before each new decade, there is a summary of the story so far as a reminder for the listeners or to inform any new members of the group to bring them up to date.
Songs to enjoy - just listen or sing along - some original tracks and some performed in-house by David
We will be continually adding to our selection of stories which currently consists of:
The Story of the Blakely Family
Synopsis ... This story follows a fictitious family living in Bayswater, Westminster. The setting is just after the end of World War 2 until the end of the 1970s. The story follows events which happened to the Blakely family and would have also happened to other people in their everyday lives; events which listeners could be able to relate to, thus activating memories and anecdotes from their own experiences over the years ... from the
1940s to the 1970s
